OK, so to add some perspective to this I will say that I upgraded from a 4 year old underpowered Dell laptop with barely a gig of RAM so any upgrade would be a good one for me. That being said, I am still very impressed with my initial experience with this product. I got it for what I consider to be a very reasonable price - under $550 and less than it would have cost direct from HP, even with their promotions and dicounts. The 640gb hard drive is huge for a relatively 'normal' user like me; I have a digital photo album, about 500-600 songs and a few videos saved so storage is not likely to be an issue for me. It comes with 6gb of RAM so the performance is pretty speedy (for me, it's lightning fast compared to my old Dell but that is probably not the case for many others). Set up was a breeze and it worked smoothly right out of the box. My only issue is that I had some older software that is no longer compatible with Windows 7 but that's not an HP issue and it's a minor point... Read more

I'd purchased this to replace a $350 Toshiba POS laptop (lol) for my 17 year old daughter. When we received it...we were both impressed at how thin it was for a sizable laptop (over 17"). As an ex-IT admin...I can easily say the most important thing to look for in a laptop is the RAM, which will determine how fast (or slow) your computing experience will be. The hard drive size isn't too important with the large HD sizes currently available. Trust me when I say that if even if you're a heavy downloader/internet user...it'll be a LONG time before you come close to using up 640KB of HD space. That's over a half a TB...which is a LOT of space! Let me break it down into pros/cons:
PROS: Incredibly fast start. The "welcome screen" pops up with very minimal delay...even after a reboot. Excellent display clarity - I'd rate it equivalent to most HDTV's. Very fast downloading/use of internet Style wise, it looks impressive & has the technology to match... Read more

I purchased a HP g7-1310us (17.3-Inch Screen) Laptop and it was delivered within 2 days. I mainly use it for work and it has all the features I was looking for. The monitor is huge, which I love. The keyboard is big. Resolution for camera is awesome. It's very fast and I can't wait to use it everyday. It's pewter color and slim. Fabulous !

I searched HP laptops because HP rocks .... hp 1117 cl is the Model I was sent... I found this monster 5GB 4GBmemory ? 17 inch LED ? ... for this price ??? wow ..yea I jumped on it... hoping its not a lemon. I got it in the mail ... the wife popped it open and was extatic. I saw it and went bug eyes F...N S..t it huge !! Open its Clam face and wow all this screen ... 10 key layout .. very sleek. The face was a Charcol Grey shiney n nyce. I did the basic setup no prob .. internet is always a hastle for me but once I got it up... stream city ... youtube loads slow but thats youtube ... everything else ran smoothly ... the Necessary Updates got stuck the first time I shut it down N I panicked thinking "here we go" .. but unplugged it and started it over and boom all updated in no time. I think Ill keep an eye on this and buy another one for myself. Ive had it for 4 days and its new ... lets hope this review doesnt change .... DONT SLEEP ... GET ONE ::)

Overall the HP G6-1b60us is a good balance of features, performance and price - only the loud cooling fan keeps it from being great. The display is bright, the keyboard has a good feel and the large off-center touchpad makes a lot of sense for anyone that operates a mouse with their right hand. The mouse buttons below the touchpad are a bit stiff, but for light usage don't seem overly difficult. Performance is about what I expected from a budget laptop model with Windows 7 being ready for use in just under 20 seconds (prior to loading any of your own programs). The computer is very easy to setup out of the box with smart and simple setup menus to guide you through initial startup of the system, and fortunately HP has left a lot of 3rd party trial software off the system - saving you time from having to remove software that just slows your system down from the start.

I believe this is a terrific value for someone who wants a laptop to do more than just web browsing, email,and word processing. It's fast enough and has adequate memory to work with video and music. We've been impressed with the keyboard, screen resolution, weight and "feel". The processor does its job effectively without any lag. For anyone who needs a good laptop and does not want to spend a lot of money this one is a great choice!

Awesome. Silent and smooth. Runs everything pretty fast. Perfect for casual gamming. Run most of the new games in medium settings. It's an excellent deal. You won't get anything better for this price.
