She likes the everything of it, but the battery life is a bummer. The battery was loaded in the laptop when we received it. It says it's 85% in the battery and can last for about 5 hours. But the battery died in 2 hours with doing nothing but sit there with the screen on. Then we charged it to full, unplug it and watched some video to keep it run. It just lasted a little bit more than 1 hour! Even my one year old dell laptop can last much longer than this by doing the same thing. We tested it several times, all just got about 1 hour battery life. I don't know it's just the particular one laptop problem since the key specification says "Up to 5.8 hours of battery life (6-cell battery) " so I ordered a replacement with Amazon to hope the battery of the second one I get will be good.The replacement service of Amazon is amazing! I got the second one in two days. So far the battery life is longer than the first one, but nothing near 5.8... I bought mine from Wal-Mart for $490 I think the only difference between the one from Wal-Mart and this one is that this one doesn't come with Bluetooth other than that the same exact specs. I will say that the battery life is not that great. I think you could get 5 hours of battery life if you turned off wi-fi and you used Toshiba's "Eco mode" the "Eco mode" gives you a lower screen brightness and slows your computer down a tad you will notice a difference when your running multiple programs or trying to download something. The speakers are not super loud and don't have any bass or treble but just make sure to adjust them when you get the computer. I suggest getting speakers or us earbuds if you like to listen to music out of your laptop. It doesn't get warm at all and even when I am running multiple programs which is nice. I played a CD, downloaded Microsoft Starter and ran the internet (on Chrome) at the same time and nothing... It has been a little less than a week since I received this laptop, my very first one! And so far so good. It works great, yes the battery life does seem short and that also depends on what you are using the laptop for. It doesnt bother me. The start up is really fast! No time at all, literally 5 seconds! No pauses in streaming. I guess the only thing I dont care about is the scrolling feature on the touch pad. I was playing a game the other day and it scrolled down to the bottom of the page and I was like "Ahhhhhh NO!!!!!!" lol, so i had to make sure my fingers were in the middle of the touch pad. I mainly bought this for homework and basic stuff so I do not regret this purchase. =) |
